Poem #1

Writer's picture: jgiacalonedesignjgiacalonedesign

I have seen Heaven in the bottom of a bottle

Hell in the eyes of a woman

Love in the spikes driven through hands

I have sought goodness and mercy

And they elude me.

The condemned man,

My sins painted on my arms,

Face down on the bloodstained cobblestones,

It would be the last time.

I made my own cross,

Built it over year after bloody year

With murder, with merciless taking,

And tears that ran red with wine.

I was the tyranny of evil men.
